“As long as you’re making beats every day, there’s no way you’re not going to make a hit song.”
- OG Parker
Can you share your story of how you first got interested in music, and how that eventually evolved into you becoming a music producer?
Okay, so basically my grandfather taught piano at Morehouse College, and he was the one who introduced me to instruments. He got me into band and all those things, so I was always in band and marching band growing up. Then around 2010, my homie came to me with a flash drive that had FL Studio on it. He was like, “Yo, you can make beats and stuff.” So I was like, “Okay, bet.” I put it on my computer, started making beats, and I have not stopped since.
What was your process for improving in FL Studio? Did you have any mentors, or were you mostly self-taught?
I’d say sonically I had a couple people help me with things like learning keys, but in terms of using FL Studio, it was pretty much self-taught. Then, of course, I used YouTube tutorials too.
Who are some of the people that you looked up to when you were just starting out?
Definitely Pharrell and Timbaland. There are so many people, like Southside, Metro Boomin, and all those guys. Just seeing them and the run they were having while I was in college had me like, “Okay, cool, I know I can definitely tap in and get there too.”

What’s your opinion on the current state of music, hip hop and R&B in particular, and where do you see it going over the next few years?
I think it’s going to keep evolving and evolving. I think it’s going to start coming together more with country music. I love how someone like Morgan Wallen is doing country, but it has trap drums and that kind of influence. I feel like it’s just evolving and evolving, and I think it can keep growing with every genre.
Is there a record in your catalogue that’s closest to your heart?
I’d probably say “Slippery” by Migos.
Do you remember the story of making “Slippery”?
Yeah, I do. It’s actually a funny story. My boy Deko had moved to LA and lived out there for like two years, and then he moved back to Atlanta. He wanted to come back so we could get back to cooking up, and we got a studio together and everything. He came to my house, and the first beat we made when he came back from LA ended up being “Slippery.” That was the first beat we ever made together.
When you made the beat, did you know it was going to be the one, or did that come later?
I knew the beat was crazy. I didn’t know it was going to be one of the biggest songs of my career, but I definitely knew it was a crazy beat. We were in there like, “We’re going crazy right now.”
What advice would you give to the new generation of music producers who are just starting out now and want to work with artists and get placements?
I love that question. I always say keep God and Jesus first. Make beats every day. Learn how to play an instrument. Even though there are a lot of tools like AI and all these things that can help and enhance what you do, I think it’s always good to have a solid foundation in at least a little bit of keys or guitar, whatever it is. And I’d say as long as you’re making beats every day, there’s no way you’re not going to make a hit song. I want everybody to know that you should never be sad or feel a type of way, because if you keep cooking up, you’re going to make a hit for sure, 100 percent.
Do you approach working on your own records any differently than when you work with other artists?
Nah, not at all. I just make music. Whatever I feel like the world’s going to gravitate toward, that’s what I want to make. I just like to focus on creating amazing music.
Can the fans expect a full project like an album from you anytime soon?
Yes, in 2026, it’s on the way. Stay tuned.
Who are some of the artists you think deserve more recognition from fans or even producers?
There are so many artists that deserve more recognition because I know they work very hard, including a lot of the people I work with. But in terms of somebody I’ve been working with recently, I’d say DDG. We’re working on a lot of stuff, and I think the fans will be very satisfied with what we’re about to put out. We’re working on D4R2, so I think they’re going to be very excited when they hear the songs we have. We have a lot of features on there, and it’s going to be fire.

Where do you see yourself one year from now, both personally and professionally?
I’d say I’m really excited about my album and the album I’m dropping with DDG. I’ve got an album I’m dropping with my boys TRAETWOTHREE and MacNel too. There’s just a lot of stuff we’re working on over here at Neutral Records, and I feel like the world’s really going to see a different side of my production, because a lot of times people think I’m just an R&B producer, but I really want to show the world that I’m stepping into another facet and a different genre.
Is there anything else that you’d like to touch on?
So we’re doing a Neutral Records camp at the top of 2026. That’s going to be amazing, and we’re doing a pop up shop to see who we select to come to our camp and either songwrite or produce, whoever wins. There are a lot of opportunities we’re about to open up for people, so I just want to make sure you all stay tapped into our Instagram, @neutralrecords. And also mine, @ogxparker. We’re really trying to provide a lot of opportunities for young up and coming songwriters and producers. We love music over here and we just want to keep growing the family.
